I have chosen a selection of 22 works to reflect the joyous rebirth of the lands life following periods of rain as reflected in art. Warmed by the sun, the red earth is soon covered with purple, blue, yellow and red hued flowers bursting forth from vibrant greenery. The art that follows shows a similar joyous exuberance

Works include those by artists from the Eastern Desert region of Utopia. This strong homeland area is that of many famous artists including the late Emily Kame Kngwarreye and Minnie Pwerle as well as Gloria Petyarre and those represented here - Barbara Weir, Emily, Galya and Molly Pwerle and the younger Lizzie Pwerle.

The artists of communities such as Ernabella, Amata, Nyapari, Ninuku, Blackstone, Kaltjiti and Mimili have, over the last 10 years, carved a particularly significant place in Australian art with their unique canvases of dazzling colour.
